A nail infection may occur whenever a white or yellowish pigmented spot starts to show up under one of your nails. If the fungus goes deeper into a nail it can cause discoloration of the whole nail. Generally the conditions for the fungus to grow require a moist environment such as in sweaty shoes, shower floors or damp carpet.
