The Femoral Artery which comes from the abdominal aorta is an important artery vital for oxygen. The femoral artery goes through a duct in the adductor magnus which is located in the posterior of the knee area of the body. The Femoral Artery usually gives off a branch known as the profunda femoris artery, a very important artery. It is also known as the deep artery of the thigh, which continues all the way down to the thigh medial and then following to the femur.

There has been much attention to the Femoral Artery as the Redskins Sean Taylor was hit by a gunshot in the Femoral Artery which caused some serious health issues leaving him on the verge of dying. There is no futrther news on this situation at the moment, but the Femoral Artery looks to be where the bullet ended up as he was shot when someone broke into his house.
